The uniform to be worn by Glasgow 2014 staff and volunteers has been unveiled.

The Game Time uniform was revealed at a special event at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow earlier today.

Renowned outdoor clothing manufacturer Trespass, the official provider of casual uniforms for the Games, created the uniform which consists of red polo shirt, grey trousers, red and white soft shell jacket, red cagoule and grey hat.

The Games Workforce, known as Clydesiders, will also be given matching bags, umbrellas and a water bottle supplied by AG Barr, an official supporter of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The casual uniform for Technical officials was also unveiled at the event. The uniform reflects the style and garments in the Games workforce uniform but is in blue and green rather than red.

Games mascot Clyde was at the launch, where some staff and clyde-siders turned models for the day as they were plucked from their seats and given a Games Time make-over before they strutted their stuff wearing the new uniform for the first time.

Lord Smith of Kelvin, Chairman of Glasgow 2014, said: "It was a proud and emotional moment for me to stand in front of the thousands of people who will make these Games a reality. From 2007, when the bid was accepted but the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games a far-off prospect, to being there today to see the amazing army of people who will make the Games great was a very special milestone in what has been a tremendous journey.

"I think the uniform is terrific - I am delighted that Clyde has his! - and I look forward to seeing the workforce wear it with pride in our venues across Glasgow and Scotland."

Commonwealth Games Minister, Shona Robison, said: "Clyde-siders are at the heart of the Games - their warm welcome, smile and enthusiasm will help make these the greatest Games ever. I look forward to seeing clyde-siders in their uniforms, designed and supplied by a Glasgow business, becoming a familiar, friendly sight this summer."

Afzal Khushi, Director of Trespass, said: "Everyone here at Trespass is immensely proud to have been involved in creating something which will be an integral part of the Games and which will be a lasting memory and impression on visitors and locals alike.

"We wanted to create something which was both practical and stylish, would reflect the city and would help the clyde-siders and workforce stand out from the crowd.

"Our business has been based here in Glasgow for more than 70 years, so to see thousands of people here celebrating sport and enjoying our own home City will be thrilling.

"We are very excited to finally be revealing our uniform and cannot wait to see them on up to 15,000 clyde-siders and over 1,000 Technical Officials. The Commonwealth Games will truly be the highlight of 2014."

Glasgow 2014's Head of Games Workforce, Valerie Mitchell, said: "The orientation events today and tomorrow are on a scale never quite seen before in Glasgow and Scotland and we have been thrilled by the enthusiasm shown by the entire workforce.

"The Games Time uniform is always one of the most eagerly anticipated milestones and the reaction from people today has been great. This is just one more milestone though on the journey to the Games and the next steps will be the more role-specific training for people."
