Here's how the Scottish players rated in their worst 5/6 Nations defeat, with a record margin of 51-3.
How the Scotland players rated:
STUART HOGG: The full-back let his team down big style as he was sent-off for a blatant check on Dan Biggar. 1/10
DOUGIE FIFE: The debutant wing looked out of his depth up against the juggernaut of George North. 3
ALEX DUNBAR: Found himself tugged about out of position too often trying to cover gap left by Hogg. 4
MATT SCOTT: Put in a few massive hits but it was like trying to fight back the tide for the centre. 4
MAX EVANS: Another Scot swept aside too easily, too often by the rampant hosts. 4
DUNCAN WEIR: Made a glut of tackles in the opening half as he was forced to fight fires but chose wrong option too often. 4
GREIG LAIDLAW: Missed a couple of kicks his team could have done with going between the posts. 3
RYAN GRANT: Looked shell-shocked as he trudged off after 46 minutes. 4
SCOTT LAWSON: Couple of erratic line-outs did not help Scots when they were under the cosh. 4
GEOFF CROSS: Lasted just 40 minutes after a toothless display. 3
RICHIE GRAY: Fell off far more tackles than a man of his size should. 3
JIM HAMILTON: A proud warrior but found himself humiliated. 4
RYAN WILSON: Failed to cope with the power of the Welsh pack. 3
KELLY BROWN: Spared blame for the mortifying loss after he limped off injured just nine minutes in. Replaced by Alasdair Strokosch. 2
DAVID DENTON: The powerful Glasgow man tried to carry the ball with menace but Wales had his number. 4
How the Wales players were rated:
LIAM WILLIAMS: A quality try-scoring performance in place of the injured Leigh Halfpenny. 8/10
ALEX CUTHBERT: All the action was on the other wing, and it proved largely a watching brief for Cuthbert. 7
JONATHAN DAVIES: Wales' midfield creator was too hot for Scotland to handle. 8
JAMIE ROBERTS: Claimed two of Wales' seven tries. Linked superbly with midfield partner Davies. 8
GEORGE NORTH: Took his Test try tally to 18 with a double at Scotland's expense. 8
DAN BIGGAR: Kicked four conversions and two penalties for a 14-point haul. 7
MIKE PHILLIPS: Had his best game of the championship. A thorn in Scotland's side. 7
GETHIN JENKINS: Celebrated his Wales record 105th cap in style. 7
KEN OWENS: The Scarlets hooker displayed a considerable work-rate. 7
RHODRI JONES: Continued his impressive upward momentum in Test rugby. 7
LUKE CHARTERIS: Coped comfortably with Scotland's lineout threat, and prominent in the loose. 7
ALUN-WYN JONES: At the heart of a committed and controlled Wales forward effort. 7
DAN LYDIATE: Usual prodigious tackle count by the Racing Metro flanker. 7
SAM WARBURTON: The Wales captain will have been delighted with his team's ruthless approach. 7
TAULUPE FALETAU: Wales' best player. Magnificent in loose and tight exchanges. 9
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
