Louis van Gaal has confirmed his desire to move to the Barclays Premier League once the World Cup has concluded.

The 62-year-old will leave his post with the Netherlands in the summer in order to return to club management.

Van Gaal has already been linked with taking over at Tottenham - current manager Tim Sherwood is going through a troubled spell - while some reports have gone as far as to say he could replace David Moyes at Manchester United.

"My ambition is to coach a top team in the Premier League. I have never experienced the atmosphere in England," he said.

Having won titles in Germany, Spain and his native Holland, Van Gaal added: "I want to win the league title in a fourth country.

"That's my objective and I want to fulfil it. Either that, or I will retire and move with my wife to Portugal."
