Jordan Rhodes, the Scotland striker, is understood to be a signing target for West Bromich Albion. The Barclays Premier League club - who are just three points above the relegation places - are willing to break their transfer record this summer should they stay up and bid in excess of £10m.

The 24-year-old - a bit-part player under national team manager Gordon Strachan - has scored 20 goals for club side Blackburn Rovers this season in the Sky Bet Championship. He joined from Huddersfield Town in 2012 in a deal which was worth £8m.
