Gabriel Piccolo, the Partick Thistle defender, was not interested in any questions which involved Celtic and not the merits of his own side.

The champions could clinch the SPFL Premiership title with a win at Firhill tonight, but Piccolo was having none of it.

"I don't mind," he said, dismissively. "I'm thinking about our team, not Celtic winning the league."

It went on. Celtic's attacking trio of Kris Commons, Anthony Stokes and Leigh Griffiths; were they the best he had ever come up against?

"It could be," he said. "I don't know. I'm trying to be ready for any kind of striker. It doesn't matter, it's 11 vs 11. Anything for us, if it's Celtic, any team, any point, it's huge for us."

Though he is certainly not short of confidence, Piccolo was candid when assessing his side's league position.

"Points never lie. If we are in that situation it is because of something. We just need to get better to pick more points and be where we deserve to be."
