Edinburgh Accies have sacked their coaching team - before finding out whether or not they will stay in the RBS Premiership.

Head coach Jonny Else and his assistant, Malky McVie, have been relieved of their positions as the club prepares for Saturday's play-off against Stewart's-Melville at Lasswade. Veteran Bob Easson will take charge of the squad for this vital match.

An Accies spokesman said: "Jonny and Malky have been involved here as players and coaches for many years and we thank them sincerely for everything they have done for the club. The priority is the game against Stew-Mel and Bob, our experienced director of rugby, will prepare the squad. Any decisions about the coaching set-up for next season will be taken following the match."

A late-season collapse led to Accies slipping to second-bottom place in the league, above only relegated Aberdeen Grammar, and requiring to beat Stewart's-Melville to retain their top-flight place.
