Scotland's Catriona Matthew was last night still in contention for victory at the Kraft Nabisco Championship after carding a 70 in the third round of the event.

It was a score which leaves the Scot in joint fifth, behind leaders Michelle Wie and Lexi Thompson.

The Scot is also just two shots adrift Charley Hull of England, who was among the most impressive on the course on Saturday as the 18-year-old secured herself a share of third spot. She enjoyed a bogey-free third round at Mission Hills Country Club in California.

"I hit it quite well," said Hull, who was tied on eight under par overall with five-time major champion Se Ri Pak of South Korea. "I hit some bad drives toward the end, which I'm working on the range. But I holed good putts my when I got myself in trouble. I'm pretty happy with how it's going."

That was a sentiment she shared with Wie. "I think I definitely am not as wide-eyed as I used to be. I'm really happy," said the American.
