Arbroath gave themselves a lifeline at the foot of League One with a sprited 4-2 win over Stranraer.

Paul McManus gave the home side a lead and two Alan Cook goals in a five-minute spell early in the second half put them firmly in the driving seat.

Sean Winter pulled a goal back for Stranraer but Paul Sheerin made it 4-1 before Alan Forde scored for Stranraer in injury-time.

East Fife lost 2-1 at home to Stenhousemuir with Sean Higgins scoring an injury-time penalty to settle the issue. Stephen Hughes struck to put East Fife ahead but Sean Dickson equalised midway through the second half.

Brechin City and Airdrieonians drew 1-1 at Glebe Park. Jim Lister scored his ninth of the season to put Airdrieonians ahead nine minutes from the break.

Craig Molloy equalised for Brechin seven minutes into the second half and Keigan Parker could have won it in injury-time for Airdrie but Graeme Smith saved well.

Dunfermline Athletic, already assured of a play-off place, drew 0-0 at home to Forfar.

Dunfermline substitute Ross Forbes came close to a late winner with eight minutes left with a free-kick which was just too high.
