Celtic have reportedly agreed to play Liverpool in an end-of-season friendly match to be held in Mauritius.

The fixture is scheduled to take place on May 18, with organisers having been given assurances that the first-team squad will travel from Glasgow.

However, the involvement of Liverpool is understood to hinge on sponsors chartering a private plane to carry the squad from Dublin - where the Anfield side are to play Shamrock Rovers - to the island in the Indian Ocean.

"We had requests from German and Italian clubs to play the match but we are happy with Celtic," said a spokesperson for the match organisers.
