NICKY LAW has revealed that playing for Rangers is the most scrutinised he has felt in his career.
The midfielder, who signed from Motherwell last summer, admitted that it had taken time to adjust to the expectation levels that accompany playing for the Ibrox club.
Rangers have four games left this season and Law is already looking forward to his summer break, joking that "it's tough constantly being told you're s*** for six months!"
"It takes getting used to playing for Rangers," he said. "With the press and the scrutiny with where Rangers are there's even more spotlight on the club. I played for Sheffield United in the Premiership which is a big club but I was a teenager so you just go out without a care in the world. Then at Rotherham, Bradford and Motherwell the focus isn't as intense as it is at Rangers, where someone has an opinion on every move you make.
"I've missed about two games so I could do with a break physically and I'm also looking forward to getting away from it mentally - it's tough constantly being told you're s*** for six months! I'm going to Egypt and then Italy with my family and I hope there are no Rangers fans there to tell me we're s***! This is the most scrutiny I've been under."
Law said the team's displays in the second half of the season had been below par. "We've dropped and when we've needed it for the cup games it was hard to get that performance back and we've been punished."
Law was one of three Rangers players, alongside Jon Daly and Lee Wallace, nominated for the Cheque Centre/PFA Scotland Player of the Year awards for the three lower leagues. Michael Moffat of Ayr United made up the League 1 contingent.
Anthony Andreu of Hamilton Academical, Kane Hemmings of Cowdenbeath, Rory Loy of Falkirk and Dundee's Peter MacDonald made up the Championship quartet, while in League 2 there were nominations for Lee Currie of Berwick Rangers, Rory McAllister of Peterhead, Kenny MacKay of Annan Athletic and Andy Rodgers of Peterhead. The nominees for Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the Premiership will be revealed this afternoon.
