Arbroath refuse to accept they are destined for the drop and a 2-0 win at Forfar Athletic gives them hope of avoiding the automatic relegation spot.

Paul Sheerin, their player-manager, put them in front after 24 minutes and Kenny Deuchar added a second before half-time.

Airdrieonians beat East Fife 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Jim Lister, a win that guarantees the Lanarkshire side will be in League One next season.

Caolan McAleer made the breakthrough seven minutes into the second half only for Steven Campbell to equalise ten minutes later. Lister then struck the winner with just 12 minutes remaining.

Brechin City are also safe after a 2-1 win at Stranraer. Alan Trouten gave them the lead only for Andy Stirling to hit back. But Robert Thomson scored the decisive goal in the second half.

Ayr United took another point towards the promotion play-offs by holding Dunfermline to a 1-1 draw at Somerset Park.

Ryan Thomson opened the scoring when he headed home a Forbes' cross at the start of the second half.

But Ayr hit back within five minutes - Alan Forrest's goal enough for a share of the spoils.
