ALLY McCOIST, the Rangers manager, has revealed neither he, his players nor his coaching staff will receive a bonus for winning the SPFL League 1 title this season.

Details of the remuneration packages of the club's hierarchy emerged over the weekend, with Graham Wallace, the Rangers chief executive, receiving a 100% bonus on top of his £315,000 salary if he and the club hits their targets. It also emerged his wage will go up by £25,000 once the club reach the Premiership, with a further £25,000 increase coming when the Ibrox side qualify for Europe.

News of Wallace's salary broke just hours before Rangers finished the campaign undefeated with a 1-1 draw with Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday, 33 wins and just three stalemates taking their total points tally to 102 for the season. It marks the second consecutive league title for the club following their demotion to the Third Division, with nearest challengers Dunfermline finishing 39 points behind McCoist's side.

However, despite the success on the pitch and the bonuses others at the club will potentially pocket off of it, the Rangers manager explained that none of the playing or coaching staff will be rewarded financially for winning the league.

"There's no bonus at all," said McCoist, who agreed to have his £825,000 salary halved in January to cut costs. "They [the players] never got anything last year and there is nothing at all for them this year. That includes the staff. It is probably the only time I can remember it happening.

"At most clubs players are sat down at the start of the season and they are given bonuses for winning games and promotion and things like that. But to be fair to our lads they have not been mumping and moaning about it at all. They got the job done last year, they certainly got the job done this year. I've just said to them to get away, get a fantastic break, and we need to come back and do it all again."

Rangers have been a dominant force in League 1 this year, yet there is still a belief that more work is required if the Ibrox side are to be as successful in the Championship next season. Discussions have taken place already between McCoist and Wallace over how much money will be available to strengthen his team, with the manager admitting players may need to depart if fresh faces are to be brought in.

"The budget I've been told will roughly be the same as this year," said the Rangers manager, who has been linked with a move for former Hearts and Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon. "So we'll obviously have to do a bit of ducking and diving. If we want to get a few in, there might have to be one or two departures as well."
