Dundee United last night denied a request from Blackpool to speak to Jackie McNamara.
The English club have begun the process of appointing a permanent manager after staving off relegation from the Sky Bet Championship this season, with former Scotland captain Barry Ferguson having taken tempoprary charge as player-manager in January.
The Bloomfield Road club have targeted McNamara as a potential replacement - the former United striker Owen Coyle is also thought to be among the candidates - but an official approach has been rebuffed. McNamara also intimated his intention to remain at Tannadice beyond the summer.
The former Scotland defender has enjoyed relative success this season by nurturing the club's coveted young players and leading them to the William Hill Scottish Cup final. United will contest the showpiece with St Johnstone a week tomorrow.
"While flattered at the interest shown, I am very happy at Dundee United and wish to build upon the foundations laid down over the last 18 months or so," said the United manager. "I have no plans to leave. All of my focus is on the Scottish Cup final."
