Stevie May, the St Johnstone striker, last night indicated he is ready to sign a new contract.
The 21-year-old has scored 27 goals during a season in which his club has finished in the top six of the SPFL Premiership and also reached the final of the Scottish Cup.
That historic match will be held on Saturday at Celtic Park. However, May has also taken time this week to mull over his future and the Scotland Under-21 internationalist is happy to remain in Perth beyond this season.
It is a decision which be welcomed by St Johnstone given the striker has attracted attention already from the likes of Peterborough United, Rotherham United and Preston North End.
"We've been speaking to the club and I want to stay here. I'm happy so I want to stay. There's no reason to want to leave," said May. "I'm still developing and can feel myself improving all the time, so this is the best place to do that. We have not spoken about figures yet but that will happen after the cup final.
"We don't want any distractions ahead of Saturday's game so it can wait until that's over. If someone wants to buy me then they'll do that regardless of my contract so that's my take on it."
