Butcher, above right, is still waiting on a rematch with the British and Commonwealth champion Kevin Satchell and hopes to make a statement with a third straight knockout victory. Quaye, from Ghana, lost a unanimous decision to Satchell in March and Butcher believes this makes him a perfect opponent.

"I'm excited to fight Quaye as he just took Satchell the distance. The plan is to stop him. He was mandatory for Satchell so I hope the Commonwealth board will make me mandatory for their belt if I perform well. I believe I should have both titles already but Satchell has been avoiding me since the fight last year. I think he had been hoping to vacate the British and not the Commonwealth but beating Quaye will hopefully mean he can't do that.

"I saw an interview with Satchell saying he had one more defence of his British to win it outright so maybe he wants to fight me but his management are not allowing it. If he does vacate it I'll fight anyone.

After three years as a pro, Butcher is rated ninth by the World Boxing Organisation, sixth in Europe and the Commonwealth and second in Britain.T
