DUMBARTON ended all speculation about the future of their sought-after manager Ian Murray by agreeing a new two-year deal with the former Scotland internationalist.

Murray had been widely tipped to succeed Danny Lennon at St Mirren, but said he was delighted to remain at the club where he has had a successful 18-month spell.

"It was a bit of surprise to see myself linked with the St Mirren job as I knew last Thursday that I was coming to complete the paperwork to remain here," he said.

"It was a relatively easy decision to make as we have created a really good team.

"I am excited about them playing in what will be a tough Championship."
