There are likely to have been a few folk close at hand to caution Fraser Forster against following too closely in the footsteps of Artur Boruc when the Englishman first arrived at Celtic Park.
At times Boruc would flirt with controversy like an awkward teen during his time playing for Celtic but there was at least one occasion when his conduct was impeccable. That was while representing his country at the World Cup in 2006.
It might be a little unfair to expect that Forster perform just as impressively this summer - the goalkeeper is part of the England squad, but behind No.1 Joe Hart in the pecking order - although his call-up is still a cause for celebration at his club side. It is a situation which was recognised this week by Boruc as he returned to international duty in a friendly with Germany.
The Pole - who is not sure whether or not he will still be in the squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers with Scotland - was quick to praise Forster for earning a spot at the World Cup. "I am very pleased for Fraser, it's fantastic for him that he is going to go to the World Cup," said Boruc.
"It is fantastic for all the Celtic supporters as well. It's a huge thing for Celtic as well to have him there so I am glad for him. Hopefully he will play, but it's not going to be easy for him to play because England have good goalkeepers, so it's going to be difficult. But just being there is really big for him and I am pleased to see another Celtic goalkeeper going to a World Cup."
Boruc was recalled to international duty in the absence of Arsenal pair Lukasz Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny, who are preparing for this week's FA Cup final. Boruc's place is uncertain beyond friendlies, such as the match which finished 0-0 with Germany.
Both countries were drawn in a qualifying group with the Scots. The former Celtic goalkeeper acknowledged that Gordon Strachan's side will be formidable opponents in the fight to qualify for the European championships.
"Scotland have improved recently, but I expected that to happen," added the Pole. "I know Gordon Strachan pretty well and I know he is a really good manager. The quality of players they have right now is very good as well and that obviously helps."
