DYNAMO MOSCOW have made an enquiry about the Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, who has been overlooked by Louis van Gaal for the Netherland's World Cup squad.

Van Dijk's agent has already stated he expects the 22-year-old to move south to the Barclays Premier League this summer after an outstanding first season for the Scottish champions.

But the wealthy Russian club Dynamo have made the first move by asking Celtic to name their price for Van Dijk, who is expected to be valued at at least £8m.

Dynamo want a big money signing to team up with their Brazilian-born Dutch internationalist Douglas in the centre of their defence and they would have little problem in raising the kind of sum Celtic will demand for their inspirational defender.

However, Dynamo would have to persuade the player himself, who was a snip last summer at just £2.6m from Groningen, and Celtic will be encouraged that Van Dijk rejected a previous offer to go to Russia last summer after Kuban Krasnodar tried to beat the Parkhead side to his signing.

He made it clear then that he was not interested in a move to Russia, but may now have a summer decision to make.

Celtic have also been linked with move for Jeff Louis, a Haitian midfielder who plays for Nancy in France.
