Ryan Wilson is out of Glasgow Warriors' RaboDirect PRO12 final against Leinster - and Scotland's summer tour - after having an operation on his shoulder.

Wilson became the second Scotland back-row forward to undergo shoulder surgery in as many weeks and will be out for several months.

Gregor Townsend, the Glasgow coach, said: "We're all disappointed for Ryan that he'll miss the big game in Dublin a week on Saturday.

"Thankfully it's not the same shoulder he injured last summer, but it's a setback for him after he's had another very good season with us."

The news broke less than a week after John Barclay underwent surgery for a less serious shoulder problem. In addition, Edinburgh centre Matt Scott will play no part in Scotland's tour of the USA, Canada, Argentina and South Africa after suffering a dislocated shoulder.

New head coach Vern Cotter could be without as many as 36 front-line players for the clash with the USA in Houston a fortnight on Saturday.

The absentees will include the bulk of the Warriors contingent, plus a host of others with play-off commitments in England and France.
