JIM DUFFY, the new Morton manager, had to leave behind his assistant at Clyde, Chic Charnley, as he did not want to ask him to give up his job.

"It would have been unfair to ask Chic to join me," Duffy admitted. "He has a full-time job apart from working at Clyde on a part-time basis and such is the nature of football I could not ask him to give that up. He was very much part of the success that Clyde enjoyed last season however I will be working with the existing backroom team at Cappielow."

Meanwhile, Clyde insisted they will not rush into appointing a replacement for Duffy, but Ian McCall and Allan Moore have already been linked with the post.
