Tom Blane is edging closer to his ambition of having his red-and-yellow colours hoisted above the Hamilton Park grandstand after Raise A Billion landed the Avon Gorge Handicap under Paddy Mathers.

A fourth winner at the track this term for Alan Berry, the bottom-weight, was also the third for Blane who is originally from the Hamilton area.

Blane said: "The leading owner for the season here gets their colours on a flag and that's been my dream for years. We've not rushed this horse as we put him away for seven months after he was gelded."

Multiplier turned over odds-on favourite Indian Keys in the opening juvenile contest when James Sullivan steered him to a length and three-quarter length success.

The winning trainer Kristin Stubbs said: "He hung left at Beverley last time but this step up to 6f seemed to suit him and he did it nicely."

Megan Carberry has been among the winners recently and she rode another when producing a strong finish to get Remember Rocky home by a head from Raamz in the Happy 10th Birthday Racing UK Handicap.

A recent scorer at Ayr, the winner is trained by Lucy Normile and owned by locally based Paul Byrne who said: "This is my nearest track as I live in Motherwell. Remember Rocky hadn't won for a few years before Ayr last week and riding him more prominently has helped."
