Dumbarton risk being frustrated in their attempts to increase the capacity of the Bet Butler Stadium ahead of the new season in the SPFL Championship.

The club had hoped to add more seating so as to profit fully from the visit of Rangers, Hearts and Hibernian next term.

However, a proposal to erect temporary stands to add to their existing 2020 capacity appears to have been defeated by metal fencing surrounding the ground. The club will now assess different options.

"Of course we are keen to have bigger crowds at our games, however it as simple as anyone would like," said chief executive Gilbert Lawrie.
