Former Albion Rovers players Barry Russell and Peter Innes have found themselves at the centre of a dispute after turning out for an East Kilbride amateur side under assumed identities.

The pair had been told by manager James Ward that they were being released at the end of the season, but they remained registered Coatbridge players until their contracts expired at the end of May.

Both players could now be banned from playing the game at any level.

Ward said: "I was informed that both Barry and Peter had been playing in an amateur game and that they had done so under assumed names. Our games were over and the players had been told that they did not figure in my plans for next season so it is not an Albion Rovers issue."
