Roy Keane will live in Edinburgh rather than Glasgow if he is named as Celtic's new boss, Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady claims.

Reports claim Keane is the frontrunner to replace Neil Lennon as Parkhead boss after the Irish national team assistant manager held talks with Hoops majority shareholder Dermot Desmond last week.

Now Everton's McGeady - a former Celtic team-mate of Keane - claims the ex-Manchester United skipper will set up home in the Scottish capital instead of risking being caught up in the goldfish bowl that is Glasgow.

Keane spent six months as a player at Parkhead in 2006 after his Old Trafford exit but made the commute from Edinburgh along the M8 to training each day rather than basing himself in the club's home city.

McGeady said: "When I was talking to him, he said if it did happen he'd probably stay in Edinburgh.

"He thought that would probably be his best option.

"He's one of those who doesn't like the limelight that much and I doubt you'd see him walking through the city centre in Glasgow.

"It's better to be a little bit out of the way and staying in Edinburgh does make sense if that's what you want.

"It's certainly feasible to do it. He stayed there when he played for Celtic, so he'll know he can do it. It's only an hour after all."
