ARNOLD PERALTA, the Rangers midfielder, has been ruled out of Honduras' World Cup plans after failing to recover from the thigh strain he sustained in the last game of the season against Dunfermline Athletic.

He has been unable to play in the friendlies against Turkey and Israel and was instructed not to train by team doctors. The 25-year-old was adamant he was fit until the day before Luis Fernando Suarez's announced his final squad but, following further medical advice, the coach made the decision to omit Peralta for the tournament.

In a series of tweets, Peralta wrote: "Thanks football! I remain happy because I know I tried my best and I fought my hardest until the last moment."
