BLAIR SPITTAL, the new Dundee United midfielder, last night revealed how Andrew Robertson's rapid ascent convinced him to join up at Tannadice.

Spittal put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Jackie McNamara's United amid strong interest from city rivals Dundee after a blistering past season with Queen's Park. The 18-year-old watched Robertson - who also arrived from Hampden -enjoy a wonder first season on Tayside which included winning a first Scotland cap.

"I made up my mind quickly as this is where I feel I can continue to evolve as a footballer," Spittal said. "Dundee United allow you to develop regardless of age."
