Motherwell have sold the striker Henri Anier to the German second-tier side Erzgebirge Aue.

The Estonia internationalist joined Motherwell last summer, initially on loan from Viking Stavanger, before completing a permanent move in January.

Anier had two years left on his contract but Motherwell, who have made a combined loss of around £800,000 in the past three seasons, decided to cash in on the forward.

The 23-year-old, who scored nine goals for Motherwell, told the club's official website: "I had a big decision to make leaving Motherwell as it has been a brilliant place for me to play football. But it is one I had to take."
