Jamie Murray last night set his sights on an extended run in the men's doubles after he and his established Australian partner John Peers made a winning start to their tournament against British pairing Dan Evans and James Ward.
The doubles specialists, No.14 seeds who beat the Bryan brothers at Queen's Club recently, outgunned their singles counterparts by a 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 score. Murray, a mixed doubles winner here back in 2007 with Jelena Jankovic, is also entered in the mixed event with Australian partner Casey Dellacqua.
"The mixed is there to play, to try to win, and what happens happens, but definitely my focus is on the men's doubles," said Murray. "We have been going steady, if you like, for 18 months, and each time we step on a court we have both got a clear plan of what the team is trying to do."
