John Doolan, the new assistant coach at Hibernian, has admitted that he found it difficult to resign from his position at Wigan Athletic and join new manager Alan Stubbs at Easter Road.

The 45-year-old arrived in Edinburgh on Saturday and was in the dug out as Hibs won in a friendly with Vale of Leithen. Having been a member of the coaching staff at Wigan, it was a decision which he did not take lightly.

"When Alan said there was a position for me here I had to seriously think about it because of where I was," he said. "I was at an English Championship club which, I am sure, will push on to the Premiership. But I thought Hibs would be a challenge."
