Steven Pressley, the former Celtic defender, does not believe the atmosphere at Murrayfield tonight will be able to match that experienced at the Scottish champions' usual home on European nights.

Celtic will play the second leg of a Champions League qualifying tie with Icelandic side KR Reykjavik at the home of Scottish rugby tonight as Celtic Park is being used for Glasgow 2014.

Pressley, who is now manager at Sky Bet League 1 side Coventry City, played in all six of Hearts' matches at Murrayfield when the Tynecastle team used the 67,000-capacity arena for UEFA Cup and Champions League qualifying ties.

The former defender expects Celtic to progress following their 1-0 first-leg win in Iceland but he has also acknowledged that Murrayfield will not be as intimidating to the visitors as Parkhead would have been.

"I think Murrayfield, when it's full, generates a terrific atmosphere but when it's not full it did not generate an atmosphere like Tynecastle does," he said. "Celtic Park is renowned for its European nights and renowned for its atmosphere and I think it will be difficult to recreate that.

"With Murrayfield, the ends behind the goals are not that close and the main stand is not that close. I don't think it's got the same feeling of intimidation as Celtic Park when the stands are almost on top of you. I don't think it generates the same intensity as Celtic Park.

"I felt with games against the likes of AEK Athens [as a Hearts player] and the intensity that could have been created at Tynecastle on a night like that, it could have been a huge advantage to us. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed playing at Murrayfield - I really did. The facilities and the environment were absolutely first class."
