The QPR striker Loic Remy has flown to the United States to have a medical ahead of a move to Liverpool, who are in Boston for pre-season.

Remy, who scored 14 goals on loan at Newcastle United last season, will undergo his physical examination today and is likely to be confirmed as their fifth summer signing - for a fee in the region of £8m - tomorrow.

Remy has been brought in to bolster the forward line following the £75m sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona but Brendan Rodgers' spending will not end there.

The Lille and Belgium striker Divock Origi is expected to make the same trip as Remy for a medical but no date has been set for that as yet.

Rodgers is still trying to conclude a deal to sign a third Southampton player in Dejan Lovren.
