Alan Combe is delighted to have crossed the Edinburgh divide and follow in his great uncle's footsteps, albeit in the twilight of his career.

The 40-year-old left Hearts this summer to take up the position of goalkeeper coach at Hibernian, where he has also been registered as a player in case of emergencies.

He is a relation of former Hibs player Bobby Combe, who played during the Famous Five era. With Combe also growing up as a Hibs supporter, he has been relishing the opportunity to help restore the club to its former glory this season.

"My job is to look after the goalkeepers but if that occasion were to come along I'd be jumping at the chance to play," said Combe. "I am honoured and over the moon to be at Hibs. I've received a lot of calls from Tynecastle congratulating me on being back in the game."
