Rhona Howie, who, as Rhona Martin, became Britain's original ice maiden when she delivered the "stone of destiny" to win curling gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games, has decided to leave curling for good, stepping down from her post as Head Coach of the Women's Performance Curling Programme.

Her most recent success in this role was to supervise the performances of Eve Muirhead's team to Olympic bronze medals in Sochi earlier this year and to the world title in 2013. "I haven't decided what's next but I feel it is the right time," said Howie.
