Scotland's Commonwealth Games poster boy Michael Jamieson misses out on a place in the 100m breast-stroke final while compatriots Ross Murdoch and Craig Benson go through.
Having had to settle for silver behind Murdoch in his favoured race, the 200 metres breast-stroke, last night, Jamieson was always going to be hard-pressed to gain any sort of consolation in the shorter event.
As he seeks to follow up on his emotional win over the man he has described as a "hero" Murdoch also looks to be under pressure in his pursuit of a double since his time of 1.01.63 was only the second fastest time behind Englishman Adam Peaty who set a new Games record in going more than half a second under the minute mark, 1.16 ahead of the leading Scot.
Meanwhile defending champion Robbie Renwick missed out on a podium finish in the 200 metres freestyle, the Tollcross-based Aberdonian having finished fourth fastest in this morning's semi-finals.
However he will have two opportunities for further Games glory since Scotland qualified third fastest for the 4x100 metres freestyle relay behind Australia and England.
And in the men's 400 metres individual relay Dan Wallace looks set to give the Tollcross crowd more to cheer after setting a Games record time of 4.11.04 to head the qualifiers.
