IT WAS a case of third time lucky as Ross County showed Dutch courage and finally escaped the Netherlands without a red card.

After sendings off and early season suspensions for Richard Brittain and Stuart Kettlewell in previous Dutch tours, Adams was relieved to finish with 11 men.

He was also more than happy with a 2-1 defeat by a classy FC Twente side packed with internationals.

Adams, who fielded Graham Carey as a trialist and will discuss a deal next week, said: "It was a very good work-out for the lads, so I'm delighted."

Merlin Schutte and Tim Holscher gave the Dutch side a two-goal lead before Jake Jervis nodded in County's reply.

Meanwhile, St Mirren went down by the odd goal in three at Carlisle. Former player Danny Grainger gave the English side the lead before Danny Kearns extended it after the break. Thomas Reilly struck a consolation.
