John Hughes, manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, hopes to sign former Hibernian midfielder Lewis Horner before Saturday's SPFL Premiership opener with Hamilton Academical.

The 22-year-old, who was at Easter Road during Hughes' time in the Hibs dug-out, has impressed on trial with Inverness after spending most of last season with English non-league s ide Blyth Spartans.

Hughes said: "Lewis is someone who can play right-back, like he did on Saturday against Birmingham, in midfield or even as a second striker. He is very versatile.

"He's someone that is not going to break the bank. I would like to think that we can do a deal, hopefully this week."
