THE Scottish Professional Football League last night confirmed BBC Scotland will broadcast television highlights, radio commentary and online clips of the Championship this season.

The package forms part of a range of broadcast deals agreed with the BBC, STV and also the Bauer Group.

The league body - which announced earlier this summer that there would be increased coverage of Scottish football on Sky Sports, BT Sport and BBC Alba - expect the new deals to be worth a six-figure sum of money distributed across all 42 senior clubs.

"It's great news for fans of Scottish football that we will see and hear even more coverage of the game next season," said Neil Doncaster, the chief executive of the SPFL. "Supporters will have more opportunities than ever to catch up on the action every week."
