Stephen Dobbie, the former Hibernian, St Johnstone and Queen of the South striker, is to join Fleetwood Town in League One on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace.

The move will see the 31-year-old Scot link up with former Blackpool team-mate Stephen Crainey, who joined Fleetwood on a free last week after being released by Wigan at the end of last season.

Another Scot holding talks about a season-long loan deal is Jamie Mackie, who may join Reading from Nottingham Forest.

Mackie has been deemed surplus to requirements by Forest manager Stuart Pearce, who has already replaced him by signing Sheffield Wednesday winger Michael Antonio in a £1.5m deal.

Mackie, 28, joined Forest for £1m from Queens Park Rangers last summer and made 49 appearances last season, scoring five goals.
