Ayr United are setting the pace at the top after beating Stirling Albion 3-1 at Forthbank.

After just two games, they are the only team in the division with a 100% record.

Alan Forrest scored twice, his first after only five minutes. Brian Gilmour, who set up Forest's second goal, also found the net. Gordon Smith replied with a penalty.

Title favourites Dunfermline Athletic have yet to score after going down 2-0 away to Forfar Athletic. Chris Templeman and Gavin Swankie went close in the first half but Dunfermline did not heed the warning.

Dale Hilson opened the scoring with a long-range shot which evaded Ryan Scully and found the bottom corner of the net.

Dunfermline substitute Ryan Thomson twice threatened Rab Douglas's goal but Darren Dods made it 2-0 to Forfar after 73 minutes.

Morton crushed nine-man Stranraer 4-0 at Cappielow. Declan McManus scored from the penalty spot in 19 minutes after Stranraer goalkeeper David Mitchell was sent off for bringing him down.

Jamie McCluskey doubled the hosts' lead with a 10-yard shot and McManus added a third before half-time. Connor Pepper scored a fourth with a 25-yard shot before Barry Russell was sent off.

Airdrieonians lost 2-0 at home to Peterhead after having Keigan Parker sent off early in the second half. The visitors took all three points with late goals from Andy Rodgers and David Cox.

Alan Trouten scored the only goal as Brechin City beat Stenhousemuir 1-0. Graeme Smith saved a Martin Grehan penalty in the second half.
