DAVE Mackay, the St Johnstone defender, is confident that the red card he received against Celtic will be overturned by the Scottish Football Association after the governing body cited Derk Boerrigter with simulation.
The Celtic forward fell in the box to earn his side a late penalty, with Mackay sent off as a result.
Boerrigter last night accepted the offer of a two-match suspension, a decision which appears to exonerate Mackay of any wrongdoing. The 33-year-old - who had appealed his dismissal - expects the SFA to confirm that his red card has been expunged from his disciplinary record.
"With Boerrigter being cited and offered a two-game ban surely there is only one decision to be made as far as my appeal is concerned," said Mackay, whose side have taken a French striker on trial this week. "I've got to wait to hear officially but surely my red card will be rescinded now. I've not heard a thing yet but I think it was the right decision to cite Boerrigter. It doesn't help us though. The game is done.
"I assume my appeal will be upheld now. I would be astonished if there was any other outcome."
