Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell will see a specialist today for a check on a shoulder injury, but there was little else to worry Ally McCoist after last night's eight goal thrashing of former club-mate Barry Ferguson's Clyde at Ibrox last night.

The Rangers manager described it as the performance he had been waiting for as they ruthlessly took their lower division opponents apart and believes it can kick start their season.

"I thought our passing was a lot sharper and our quality of goals tonight was excellent," he said. "I just hope this is now a start for us and we can continue playing with a bit more speed. We were more incisive up front and moved the ball quicker than we have in the last couple of games so I hope we can take confidence from that and move on."

McCoist praised his men for the clinical way they went about their business as Kris Boyd scored a hat trick, Lee McCulloch and Lewis MacLeod registered two apiece and Fraser Aird also got on the scoresheet and, while he clearly felt for Ferguson, he reckoned his erstwhile team-mate would not thank him for offering him sympathy.

"I don't think he'd be looking for it. I know he wouldn't," McCoist insisted. "It's a sore one for Barry and it's a sore one for his team, but I don't have any doubts he'll bounce back from that. With the greatest of respect to Barry and his team, at the moment they've got far more important things in the league to concern themselves. They'll obviously be disappointed at the result but I have no doubts they'll bounce back."

While Aird picked up a knock, McCoist thought it had been painful rather than damaging but he admitted concern over Bell. "He picked up an injury in the first minute at Falkirk and at training the next day he didn't feel comfortable, so he's going to see a specialist and get a scan tomorrow," he said.
