Rangers' 8-1 defeat of Clyde was watched by their lowest home attendance for 29 years at Ibrox.

Only 11,190 fans turned up for the Petrofac Training Cup tie on Monday.

Ally McCoist, the Rangers manager, actually scored the last time the attendance was lower, at the tail end of their dismal 1984-85 campaign, as the Ibrox side crashed to a 3-1 defeat to Dundee on March 23, 1985, in front of only 9954 fans.

Their lowest attendance of recent times was a 2011 Scottish Cup success over Kilmarnock, but the figure of 13,215 inside Ibrox for the comfortable 3-0 win was put partly down to a refusal by Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston to lower prices.
