FORMER Aberdeen winger Andrew Driver has joined Dutch side De Graafschap on a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old was out of contract after finishing last season with a short-term deal at Pittodrie, where he made just one appearance.

The Oldham-born former Scotland schoolboys cap had spent the previous two seasons in the United States with Houston Dynamo.

Driver had been on trial with De Graafschap, who were promoted back to the Eredivisie top-flight last season via the play-offs, but has finally put pen to paper with the 'Super Farmers'.

He said: "I've always played Football Manager on the computer, so I knew the club and I know that it is a good club.

"I've also noticed that in the two weeks I've been here, it is a nice environment to work in.

"I'm really enjoying myself here and I'm happy to have signed a contract."

He added to Dutch broadcasters Omroep Gelderland: "I have played in Scotland and in America and I'm now really looking forward to meeting this challenge in the Netherlands."
