GLASGOW CITY have been confirmed as one of the seeded sides when the draw for the last 32 of the UEFA Women's Champions League is made in Nyon on Thursday.

The eight-time Scottish champions were spared pre-qualifying for the first time and their feat of reaching the quarter finals last season has left them eighth ranked in the competition.

"That's a credit to everybody who has played a part in the club over the past few years." said club manager Laura Montgomery.

"It's obviously fantastic to be seeded because we avoid clubs like Wolfsburg and Lyons – but looking at the 16 non-seeded sides there are no easy draws.

"There are ones you would definitely want to avoid – and Chelsea fall into that category."

City could also be drawn against Icelandic champions Stjarnan, who were eliminated from the men's tournament by Celtic last month.

Spartans, meanwhile, are on the lookout for a new team manager after Debbi McCulloch announced she will be standing down at the end of the season.

McCulloch, who was appointed head coach in 2010 and manager two years later, has taken her side to four League Cup finals and one Scottish Cup final.

The club are currently sixth in the SWPL and McCulloch, who steps up to be club manager, will oversee the recruitment process for her successor.
