Scotland's Ewen Ferguson has become the third Scot in the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team after Sam Horsfield withdrew for personal reasons.

Ferguson was first reserve for the squad, and now joins fellow Scots Jack McDonald and Grant Forrest in the team for the event at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September.

Ferguson won the Boys Amateur Championship in 2013 and became the first player to hold that title along with the Scottish Boys and Scottish Boys Stroke Play trophies which he won last year.

The 19-year-old from Bearsden won the Scottish Champion of Champions event and the Craigmillar Park Open this year and achieved top five finishes at the Irish Open Amateur and Scottish Stroke Play championships.
