JASON Holt has confidently predicted that another of Mark Warburton’s mass brainstorming sessions will ensure Rangers raise their standards after a dip in form against Livingston last weekend.

Holt and his team mates defeated Mark Burchill’s side 3-0 at Ibrox on Saturday to extend their winning run to 10 games and maintain their five point advantage at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership table.

Yet, Warburton was unhappy with the level of his side’s display despite the comfortable margin of victory and has attempted to identify what was responsible for the unsatisfactory showing in between training sessions at Murray Park.

Holt, who has played in nine of the Glasgow club’s matches so far in the 2015/16 campaign, has revealed that regular think tanks, where matches are dissected and tactics discussed, are a feature of the former city trader’s management style.

The former Hearts man is hopeful Rangers will be back to their best when they travel to the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium to take on Dumbarton in the league tomorrow afternoon as a result of the get togethers.

Speaking at the launch of a season ticket promotion, he said: “There are a lot of meetings, nearly every day actually. We’ll go over stuff and as players we’ve got the chance to give our views as well.

“Here we just go through things together, the management and players. We’ll go through the analysis and the players definitely get a good say in that as well.

“The more you do of that kind of thing the better. Each team you play, you need to respect them. You need to look at them and their strengths. It’s important you do that kind of thing as well.

“We won 3-0 last weekend, but we let our standards drop. As players we weren’t happy with that. We always set out to maintain our levels of performance and we felt it went down slightly.”

Holt added: “This weekend we will be looking to put that right and put the standards back to where we set them. In previous weeks, the performance levels were high and we want to get back to that.

“As players we knew we hadn’t maintained our standards against Livingston. It was down to us after the game. We were a bit disappointed and we want to put it right now.”

Holt, who spent the second half of last season on loan at English League One club Sheffield United after failing to hold down a regular first team place at Hearts, left Tynecastle in the summer.

The 22-year-old, who had spent no fewer than 13 years at his boyhood heroes, has had no regrets about spurning the opportunity to play in the Premiership this term and remaining in the Championship.

He believes his experiences with Robbie Neilson’s side in the second tier last season, when they romped to the title and promotion, will prove beneficial as Warburton’s charges endeavour to secure a place in the top flight in the months ahead.

“It’s quite similar actually,” he said. “One of the main things that’s similar is the atmosphere in and around the place. In the dressing room, there’s a really tight group of players and everyone gets on really well. I think that shows on the park.

“We haven’t had to do much away from the park to enhance that. It’s just been through working really hard together on the training ground. If you do that, during the week, it will show on the pitch and it has done so far.

“When you are on a run like this, you look forward to going. There’s a real buzz around the place, there has been since day one just with the new management coming in. It’s been really positive since the first day. If we can keep maintaining the standards we’ve set, I’m sure we’ll do well.”

Holt continued: “I’ve really enjoyed playing in the team. The way the manager has come in and stamped his style on it – I think I speak on behalf of all the players – we’re really enjoying it. Long may it continue really.

“The passing style is great for every player in the team because you are always getting lots of touches of the ball. It goes through the midfield a lot and it’s great to be involved so much. All the new boys have gelled really well and we just need to keep it up.

“The manager just tells me to go and play and do what I am good at. I try to get myself forward as much as possible, play off the strikers and link with the rest of the team. We are all getting on really well in the team.

“It all starts on the training field with the manager. He implemented his style and we have all bought into it. We are getting the rewards just now.”
