SCOTLAND'S Daniel Purvis has been named in the Great Britain team for the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old Commonwealth Games champion is part of a six-strong men’s team that also includes world all-around silver medallist Max Whitlock; reigning European pommel horse champion Louis Smith; and European floor gold medallist Kristian Thomas.

They are joined by five-time European junior champion Nile Wilson and European Games bronze medallist Brinn Bevan in his first World Championships.

The women’s team comprises: sisters Becky and Ellie Downie, Claudia Fragapane, Kelly Simm, Ruby Harrold and Amy Tinkler.

Fragapane made history at the SSE Hydro last summer after becoming the first Englishwoman in 84 years to win four gold medals at a single Commonwealth Games.

Ellie Downie, meanwhile, became the first female gymnast to win an individual all-around medal for Great Britain at the European Championships with a bronze in April.

The women’s travelling reserve will be Charlie Fellows with the men’s to be confirmed later this week.

The 2015 World Gymnastics Championships take place at the SSE Hydro from October 23 until November 1.
