Celtic will take a look at 18-year-old Irish attacker Darragh Markey this weekend.
The teenager, who made the breakthrough at St. Pat's Athletic last season. has been invited to participate in a bounce game this Sunday with Celtic and the League of Ireland club have given him permission to accept the offer.
Markey is believed to have been scouted by a number of clubs, including English Premiership sides, and Celtic's offer highlights the club's position on looking to bring in the cream of youth talent and develop them into first-team players.
Celtic have already invited 17-year-old Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer for a trial this week as they look at attracting an elite group of youngsters to the club.
Ronny Deila and Celtic assistant John Collins were spotted taking in Everton’s game against Manchester City on Wednesday night as they attempt to seek out further options to bolster the squad, although it remains highly unlikely that a deal will be stuck for former Celti Aiden McGeady, who is currently earning around £50,000 per-week with the Goodison Park side.
However, Deila is keen to add to his squad in the window and the Norwegian has watched Aleksandar Pantic as the Celtic manager attempts to shore up what has been an unsettled defence this season. Croatian midfielder Ivan Mocinic and Walsall’s Romaine Sawyers have also come to the attention of the club.
Mocinic made his senior debut for Croatia at the end of the year and the holding midfielder has been scouted by the Parkhead club.
Similarly, Libor Kozak, the 26-year-old out of favour Aston Villa forward, has been watched more than once by Deila. Emil Berggreen, a Danish under-21 internationalist, has also been on the radar of the Celtic manager as he seeks to build a team capable of negotiating the Champions League qualifying games which come in July.
However, it is understood that Cardiff target Wout Weghorst, has not been targeted by Celtic. The Dutch striker was subject of a £700,000 bid from Cardiff City and the 23-year-old had claimed to media in his homeland that Celtic were also keen on his services.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s game against Dundee which was postponed due to increment weather has been re-arranged for Tuesday, 9th February at 7.45pm at Dens Park.
