LAURA MUIR polished off her indoor season with victory at the Scottish Universities Championships at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.

The world 1500m finalist was edged out by Amber Woodrow in the heats of the 800 metres but coasted clear in the final to win in 2:02.46, 11 seconds clear of the field.

Training partner Mhairi Hendry took gold in the 400m with the European junior finalist setting a personal best of 55.90 secs.

While Guy Learmonth continued his unbeaten start to 2016 by winning his 800m in 1.50.20.

Elsewhere, Rio 2016 hopeful Callum Hawkins received another boost in his build-up to April’s London Marathon by taking the BUCS cross-country title with a dominating performance in Gloucester.

Meanwhile European bronze medallist Chris O’Hare made it two wins out of two this winter, coming out trumps in the 1500m at the Armory Invitational in New York. Fellow Scot Lynsey Sharp was third in the 800m behind American rival Ajee Wilson.
