RONNY Deila last night criticised Dedryck Boyata for the foul which got him sent off in Celtic’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Hamilton at New Douglas Park.
Deila’s side was winning their Ladbrokes Premiership match thanks to a 35th minute Leigh Griffiths penalty when Boyata brought down Carlton Morris.
Referee Craig Thomson awarded the Belgian centre half a straight red card and the 10-man visitors conceded a second half goal to Eamonn Brophy.
The result means that Aberdeen can move to within four points of the Premiership leaders with a win over St. Johnstone at Pittodrie today.
Thomson’s decision incensed the visiting support -but Deila revealed he had no problems with the ordering off after watching it back and admitted his player was at fault.
“I think it was an okay decision,” he said. “I have seen it one more time and I don’t think he is touching the ball.
“We have to learn from these situations. When you are one v one you have to run with people. We have very quickly defenders, you should run with them instead of taking chances. And then we got caught and it put us in a difficult situation.”
“That is the rule number one for defenders, stay on your feet and run with people. He was running out of the pitch, that is something we have to learn from.”
Hamilton manager Martin Canning said: “This one restores a bit of pride. Everyone was hurting after the last game at Celtic Park when we lost 8-1, but we showed we can get over that and put on a performance. It feels like a win in a way and we would have taken a point before the game.”
